LINCOLN, Neb. — NWU first-year head football coach Jacob Donohoe has announced the addition of Dante Proctor Jr. as running backs coach.
Proctor arrives in Lincoln after spending the last two seasons as a graduate assistant with the Texas Southern football program, where he worked under head coach Cris Dishman with the running backs and special teams units. During his time with the Tigers, Proctor helped TSU close the 2025 season with back-to-back wins, giving the program its first winning season since 2000.
"I am excited for Dante Proctor joining our staff as the running backs coach here at Nebraska Wesleyan," Donohoe said. "He brings a lot of knowledge, not only in the running back room, but also in special teams and operations."
Before his coaching career began, Proctor was a sprinter on the track and field team at Lamar University in Beaumont, Texas, where he competed for four seasons. That experience as a collegiate athlete drives his approach to player development. In his role with Texas Southern, Proctor utilized Hudl and GameStrat to break down opponent film, led position meetings and contributed to weekly game planning. He also supported recruiting efforts by evaluating film and identifying talent at the Division I level.
Proctor earned his bachelor's degree in Physical Education Teacher Education from Lamar in 2023 before earning his master's degree in kinesiology with a concentration in health and human performance from Texas Southern in May 2025.
"I am beyond grateful and blessed from God and Coach Donohoe for giving me the opportunity to coach this great room of running backs at NWU," Proctor said. "I'm super excited to be apart of this great staff that Coach Donohoe put together and the Prairie Wolf community and family."
A native of Houston, Texas, Proctor now resides in Lincoln.
