LINCOLN, Neb. — The Nebraska Wesleyan Prairie Wolves have named Kyle Murphy as their new offensive line coach, head football coach Jacob Donohoe announced. Murphy will begin his duties immediately and becomes the second official hire of the Donohoe era, joining defensive coordinator Brandon "Bear" Earp, who was hired last Wednesday.
"I am excited for Kyle Murphy to join the coaching staff as offensive line coach here at Nebraska Wesleyan University," Donohoe said. "Kyle has spent his coaching career working with many very successful coaches that I have a lot of respect for. I am excited for what he can bring to the table, not only in the offensive line room, but to the whole Prairie Wolves football program."
Murphy arrives in Lincoln after spending the past three seasons at Fort Hays State University as the Tigers' tight ends coach. During his time in Hays, Murphy helped develop Cale Cormaney into a two-time Second Team All-MIAA selection in 2024 and 2025 while contributing to multiple facets of the Tigers' offensive operation.
Murphy's background is rooted in offensive line play. He began his collegiate coaching career at Kansas State, where he served as an offensive student coach from 2020-23 after transferring into the program. Working primarily with the offensive line, Murphy gained hands-on experience in practice organization, opponent scouting and in-game communication. He learned under former Kansas State offensive line coach and offensive coordinator Conor Riley, now the offensive line coach for the Dallas Cowboys.
At Fort Hays State, Murphy's responsibilities extended well beyond position coaching. He served as the program's high school camp coordinator, social media coordinator and assisted with detailed scouting of defensive fronts, stunts and blitz packages. Murphy also played a role in in-game adjustments and self-scouting offensive tendencies.
Murphy inherits an offensive line group at Nebraska Wesleyan that will feature significant turnover, with four starters departing from a season ago. His experience working within multiple offensive systems and developing skill players at the Division II level positions him well to lead the Prairie Wolves' front as it enters a new chapter.
"I'm very excited to be joining the NWU family and football program as the offensive line coach and can't wait to be a part of the future here under Coach Donohoe," Murphy said. "I can't wait to get to Lincoln and get started building something special at NWU"
Murphy started his undergraduate degree at Missouri Western State before completing his degree at Kansas State with a major in business marketing and a minor in leadership studies. He will immediately join the Prairie Wolves staff as the program builds toward the 2026 season.
