Simpson Bests Prairie Wolves In Baseball Doubleheader

INDIANOLA, Iowa (April 23, 2021) - Nebraska Wesleyan baseball (8-21, 6-16 A-R-C) dropped a doubleheader at Simpson (9-15, 6-12 A-R-C) in Indianola, Iowa. The Storm won game one, 2-0, then took game two, 8-5.

A defensive battle highlighted game one as both starting pitchers tossed complete games. Christian Reynoso allowed just two runs on six hits. The six hits allowed are the second-fewest given up by an NWU pitcher this season. Simpson's two runs is also the least amount scored by a Prairie Wolf opponent in the 2021 season.

Game two saw Nebraska Wesleyan plate five runs, with all of those runs coming in an eighth-inning rally. The rally started with a Will Schneidewind sacrifice fly to score Kaleb Knox. Aaron Nichols knocked a double to left-center to bring in John Haimowitz later in the inning. In the next at-bat, a single from Mason Bennett scored both Nichols and Dan Hundley. The following batter, Riley Ward, singled to score Bennett.

In game two, the bottom third of the line-up scored three of NWU's five runs. Riley Ward tallied at least one hit in both games for the Prairie Wolves.
