DECORAH, Iowa. (February 27, 2021) - Nebraska Wesleyan volleyball (1-2, 1-2 A-R-C) swept Luther College (0-2, 0-2 A-R-C), 25-15, 25-19, 25-12, for its first road of the spring 2021 season.
NWU jumped out quickly with an 11-4 rally to take a 14-7 lead and the Norse would never get closer than six points in the first set. In the second set, the Prairie Wolves scored the first four points and never looked back, winning the set on a kill from Hannah Domandle. Similar to the second set, Nebraska Wesleyan raced out with four consecutive points in the third set and continued to build from that point on. Kennady Klein served five straight points to put the Prairie Wolves up by 10 before winning the match on a Luther attack error.
As a team, NWU finished with 39 kills and a .351 hitting percentage with eight aces. Defensively, the Prairie Wolves forced Luther to hit just .146 percent and commit 13 attack errors.
Notable Stats and Performances
-This is NWU's first win since November 5, 2019, due to the COVID-19 Global Health Pandemic.
-Trisha Hayes had a match-high 12 kills, which is also the most in her Nebraska Wesleyan career.
-Kelsie Stovall and Hannah Domandle combined for 24 of Nebraska Wesleyan's 44 digs.
-Stovall had a team-high 14 digs, the most by a Prairie Wolf this season
-Kennady Klein and Grace Hogeland each had two aces for Nebraska Wesleyan
-Luther's Jess Callahan had 12 kills and Anna Jenewein had 15 digs
