Volleyball’s Comeback Bid Comes Up Short Against Buena Vista

LINCOLN, Neb. (February 23, 2021) - The Nebraska Wesleyan volleyball team fell to Buena Vista (2-0, 2-0 A-R-C), 3-1. NWU recorded 10 service aces in the match, the most since November 26, 2019.

The Prairie Wolves looked poised for their first win of the season when they took the first set of the match 25-19 as Trisha Hayes smashed four of her six kills in the set. Nebraska Wesleyan recorded four service aces in the opening frame and forced the Beavers to hit six attack errors.

Buena Vista bounced back with wins in the next two sets after NWU limited them to hit .146 in the first set. A back and forth fourth set looked to be won by the Prairie Wolves when two consecutive kills from Nyah Chambers made it a 23-21 BVU lead. However, Nebraska Wesleyan's momentum would be halted when Buena Vista scored two of the next three points to take the match. The Beavers escaped the Prairie Wolves' 13 kills, their highest in a set for the match, to avoid a fifth-set.
