Prairie Wolves Cruise Past Northland College To Open Season


ASHLAND, Wisc. (November 7, 2021) - The Nebraska Wesleyan women's basketball team opened the 2021-2022 season with a commanding, 79-41, road win at Northland College in Ashland, Wisconsin. 

After shaking off some preseason rust in the first quarter, the Prairie Wolf offense heated up the rest of the way. NWU scored 21 points or more in each of the last three quarters, highlighted by 24 points in the fourth quarter. In the final quarter, Nebraska Wesleyan shot 68.8 percent from the field. As a team, Nebraska Wesleyan was 47 percent from the field and 73.7 percent at the free-throw line for the game. 

Defensively, NWU locked down Northland the entire game. The Jills only scored in double-figures in the fourth quarter and were limited to just seven points in the third quarter. Nebraska Wesleyan completely shut down the three-point line in the win, allowing just one three-point shot on 23 attempts. For the game, Nebraska Wesleyan held Northland to shoot 25.8 percent from the field and just 4.3 percent from the three-point arc.

NWU had four players score in double-figures in the victory, paced by Delaney Roberts with 20 points. Ellie Bream added 14 points with Anna Vandenack and Alli Dieckmann both chipping in 10 points. Sami Tucker grabbed 10 rebounds as Vandenack, Roberts, and Rhett Partridge all pulled down seven rebounds.
