Westminster Clips Women’s Basketball In Back And Forth Tilt

FULTON, Mo. (November 20, 2021) - The Nebraska Wesleyan women's basketball had its two-game winning streak stopped with a 71-64 loss at Westminster College in Fulton, Missouri.

The Prairie Wolves and Bluejays battled back and forth almost the entire way with seven lead changes throughout the game. After Westminster led 16-15 after the first quarter, NWU outscored WC 18-16 in the second quarter to take a 33-32 halftime lead. Nebraska Wesleyan had a balance attack in the opening half, shooting 41 percent from the field during the two quarters. Defensively, NWU forced the Bluejays to shoot just 25 percent in the second quarter.

The third quarter again featured a back-and-forth tilt, that saw neither team lead by more than three points. A jump shot with three seconds left in the third frame, tied the game at 45 points a piece. In the four quarter, the Bluejays found enough offense to stretch the lead to 10 points with just under five minutes to go. NWU was able to cut the lead down to five points with under a minute left but free-throws by WC allowed them to pull away over the final 12 seconds.

Delaney Roberts led the way for Nebraska Wesleyan with 15 points. Roberts shot 50 percent in the game from both the field and three-point arc. Ellie Bream netted 10 points off the bench for NWU and shot a perfect 100 percent at the free-throw line. Rhett Partridge finished with a team-best eight rebounds.
