DUBUQUE, Iowa (October 23, 2021) - The Nebraska Wesleyan volleyball team narrowly fell at the University of Dubuque in five sets.

The Prairie Wolves looked destined for a sweep after winning the first two sets, behind 12 kills as a team in each set. NWU won the first set, 25-22, and the second set, 25-18. Grace Hogeland served four of her match-best five aces in the first two sets.

However, Dubuque responded by winning sets three and four with a strong defensive effort. UD won set three, 25-14, and set four, 25-12. The Spartans forced Nebraska Wesleyan to have a negative hitting percentage in both sets.

In the decisive fifth set, Dubuque held NWU to five kills and no aces as it recorded nine kills and two aces, which allowed them to pull away.

Addied Thomas led the Prairie Wolves with 19 kills and Erica Hopping dished out 32 assists. Kennady Klein recorded 19 digs with Hopping tallying 17 digs. Shae Gallery and Nyah Chambers combined for five blocks.
