No. 8 Wartburg Spoils Volleyball Senior Day

LINCOLN, Neb. (October 2, 2021) -  Nebraska Wesleyan's volleyball senior day was spoiled by No. 8 Wartburg. The Knights bested the Prairie Wolves, 3-0, at Snyder Arena.

NWU looked to add another reason for celebration on Saturday as it scored the first three points of the match and jumped out to a 6-1 lead on the nationally-ranked Knights in the first set. Midway through the opening set, Nebraska Wesleyan used four straight points to lead Wartburg again. WC countered with a run of its own to regain the lead before NWU could comeback.

Again, the Knights had to come from behind in the second set after the Prairie Wolves scored three straight points early in the set. But five consecutive points in the next rally allowed Wartburg to pull away for a 2-0 match lead. In the third set, WC used a quick start for an early lead and never looked back.

At the conclusion of the match, Nebraska Wesleyan recognized senior student-athlete, Cassidy Plooster. Plooster paced the Prairie Wolves with 13 assists and had one of the team's four aces on the afternoon. Mackenzie Scurto and Nyah Chambers each tallied two block assists in the match.
