Wartburg Spoils NWU Women’s Basketball Home Opener

LINCOLN, Neb. (January 23, 2021) – The Nebraska Wesleyan women's basketball home opener was spoiled by Wartburg College (5-0, 1-0). NWU (0-1,0-1), playing in its first game of the 2020-2021 season, fell to WC 79-45.

A cold shooting first-half combined with nine three-pointers in the second-half from the Knights were too much for the Prairie Wolves to overcome. Nebraska Wesleyan missed on its first 10 attempts from the field before getting on the board. Defensively, NWU held Wartburg to a 17.6 percent shooting performance from the field and 10 points in the first quarter.

In the second half, the Knights heated up behind the arc, as they connected on four three-pointers in the third quarter, which equaled their total amount for the first half, and chipped in five more in the fourth quarter. The final quarter saw the Prairie Wolves go on the attack, as they went to the free-throw line 10 times, going 70 percent at the line. NWU also netted 20 points in the last 10 minutes.
