AUBURNDALE, Fla. – Beloit College scored three runs in the bottom of the 6
th inning to break open a one run game and they would hold on to defeat Nebraska Wesleyan 6-2 on Thursday morning (March 12) in Auburndale, Fla.
NWU tried to mount a late rally with two runs in the top of the 9
th inning but the deficit was too much to overcome.
Four straight singles in the 6
th inning by Beloit were the difference in the game to score the three runs. They led 1-0 after four innings, added three in the 6
th and one each in the 7
th and 8
th to open up a 6-0 advantage.
Draven Ray hit a two-run home run in the top of the 9
th inning for the Prairie Wolves for their only two runs of the game.
Riley Ward took the loss for the Prairie Wolves on the mound allowing four earned runs in five innings of work. Ward struck out four and scattered six hits in his five innings.
Hayden Parker threw the final three innings allowing two runs.
Seven different players had one hit for the NWU offense.
Nebraska Wesleyan is scheduled to close out their spring trip on Friday with a pair of games.
