Biography

2022: Earned his fifth varsity letter during his graduate season... started 36 games on the season... finished the season batting .310 with 23 RBI (tied for fourth on the team), 28 runs, nine doubles, two triples, 20 walks/ hit by pitch (fourth on the team), .393 on base percentage (fourth on the team), 3-6 on stolen bases and a .935 fielding percentage... recorded 12 multi-hit games, and six multi-RBI games... went 1 for 3 with a season high three runs against Hendrix (2/19)... was 3 for 3 with a double and three RBI vs. Central College (5/1)
    
2021:
Was once again one of the key components of the NWU offense...once again led the team with a batting average of .378 with an impressive 41 hits including 10 doubles and his first collegiate round tripper...Ward was nearly on the bases half of the time with on OBP of .456 and 6 stolen bases...set the season high "at bat" statistic for the Wolves with 7 at bats versus Dubuque on 4/10/21. Ward was also a cog for the NWU pitching staff...making 8 appearances. starting in 7 of those...nearly 1/3 of the runs given up by Ward were unearned leading to an ERA of 4.50, the best among the starting pitchers for the 2021 season....tied for the most wins on the bump with 3. 

2020: Ward started in the infield and pitcher... he led the team in batting average with .351 and in hits with 20... Ward also went on to lead the team in stolen bases with 10 which was on pace for the school record... posted an on-base percentage of .448... and a slugging percentage of .474... on the defensive side, Ward had 15 put outs and 34 assists... he also had a fielding percentage of .907... Ward was a key contributor in the shortened 2020 season... the season was cut short due to the covid-19 global pandemic.

2019: Started at shortstop and pitcher for a second straight season for the Prairie Wolves … made six starts on the mound and started 28 games at shortstop … tied for the team lead with three pitching victories ending the year 3-2 … batted .278 with 32 hits and was second on the team with 27 RBI … went a perfect 8-8 on stolen bases … posted nine multiple RBI games, including two with four RBI … in the three-game series versus Simpson went 6-for-11 with eight RBI … was 2-for-5 with four RBI in victory over Augsburg on Mar. 16 … during team’s record setting win over Luther, was 3-for-4 with six runs scored, four RBI, two doubles and a triple … best pitching outing was at Wartburg on April 13 … pitched 7.0 innings allowing only one run and scattering nine hits … threw-season best 8.0 innings giving up three earned runs in win over Simpson on April 2 … other win was versus Augsburg on Mar. 16 allowing two earned runs in 6.0 innings with four strikeouts … struck out 22 and walked 12 on the year.  

2018: Was used as a starting pitcher and shortstop for the Prairie Wolves  in his freshman season … made six starts on the mound going 1-3 with a 4.24 ERA … started 11 games at shortstop and one at second base … finished second on the team in ERA and third in batting average hitting .333 … pitched complete game two-hit shutout victory versus Presentation on March 18 … struck out eight batters in nine inning performance … went at least six innings in two other starts on the mound … put together a six-game hitting streak from April 7-24 … was 10-22 during the stretch … best day at the plate was going 4-5 with a run scored at Doane on April 18 … was 2-4 with a double, RBI and two runs scored in conference win at Buena Vista on April 10. 

Academic: Business Administration major. 

In High School: Named Class B All-State in baseball at Lincoln Pius X HS … also selected to the All-City team … a two-year letterwinner for the Thunderbolts … helped lead team to two state appearances … earned four letters in cross country … part of state runner-up team.
