Norse Top Century Mark in Win over NWU Women

DECORAH, Iowa – The Nebraska Wesleyan women's basketball team allowed over 100 points for a sixth time this season as the Prairie Wolves went on the road and fell 102-76 to Luther College in American Rivers Conference action on Saturday afternoon (Feb. 8) in Decorah, Iowa.
 
Luther College used hot shooting in the second quarter to outscore the Prairie Wolves by 13 and take a 15-point lead into the halftime break.  The good shooting continued in the second half for the Norse as they were able to score 53 second half points making over 50 percent of their shot attempts.
 
NWU was held well below 40 percent shooting in the first three quarters to fall behind, then the Prairie Wolves shot 9-16 in the 4th quarter to end the game at 40.8%. 
 
A big problem for the Prairie Wolves once again versus Luther was their size.  The Norse held a +17 advantage on the glass and outscored NWU 30-12 in the paint.
 
Five different Norse players scored in double figures, with three players coming off the bench to score in double digits.   Jenna Upfhoff came off the bench to hit her first four 3-pointers of the game and finish with 20 points in only 19 minutes.
 
Nebraska Wesleyan was led in scoring once again by Caitlin Navratil who scored 26 points with a team-high five assists.  Navratil was 11-27 from the field and 3-11 on 3-point attempts.
 
Mikenzie Delgado also reached double figures in scoring with 12 points, getting 10 of those points in the first half.
 
The Prairie Wolves will step out of conference play on Wednesday when they host the College of Saint Mary.
