PELLA, Iowa -- Four Nebraska Wesleyan University runners earned All-Conference honors by placing in the top 15 at the 2020 American Rivers Conference Cross Country Championships in the final competition of the season on Saturday (Nov. 7) in Pella, Iowa.
The NWU women had three All-Conference runners and placed 3rd overall in the team standings, while the men had one All-Conference performer and finished 6th in the team race.
Wartburg College won the A-R-C team championship for both the men and the women with Aubrie Fisher winning the women's race and Joe Freiburger repeating as the male A-R-C champion.
In the women's race, the Prairie Wolves represented themselves very well with three runners in the top 13. Senior
Leah Treffer led the way for NWU with her 4th place finish. Treffer crossed the finish line at the 6K race in a time of 23:04.07. Two spots behind Treffer was junior
Madi Bahe who was 6th individually with her time of 23:15.90. Rounding out the All-Conference performances was senior
Camryn Larsen who placed 13th running a time of 23:48.44.Â
For the NWU men,
Norbert Weijenberg earned his second straight All-Conference recognition to lead the Prairie Wolves. Weijenberg ran the 8K course in a time of 26:09.83 to place 6th individually in men's race. He was the only NWU men's runner to finish in the top 25. The next NWU runner to cross the line was senior
Preston Decker who was 35th.
