LINCOLN, Neb. – 7
th-ranked Wartburg College made 16 3-pointers and shot over 59 percent from the field as a team leading the Knights to a 107-46 victory over Nebraska Wesleyan in American Rivers Conference women's basketball action on Saturday night (Jan. 25) at Snyder Arena.
NWU falls to 5-11 overall and 2-7 in league play with their seventh straight loss. Wartburg improves to 15-3, 7-2 in conference.
The Prairie Wolves were right with the Knights through the first five minutes of the game and trailed 24-14 after one quarter.
Wartburg scored the first 21 points of the second quarter holding the Prairie Wolves scoreless for nearly seven minutes to build up a 45-14 advantage and that was way too much for NWU to overcome. The Knights outscored the Prairie Wolves 24-6 in the second quarter to lead 48-20 at halftime.
In the second half, the Knights remained hot from 3-point range making 7-14 in the 3
rd quarter and five more in the fourth quarter to score 59 second half points.
Nine different Wartburg players connected on 3-pointers in their balanced scoring attack. Three players reached double figures led by Payton Draper with 17 points.
Jazmine Glenn was the only NWU player to score in double figures with 13 points.
