No. 6 Knights Too Much for Prairie Wolves Women

WAVERLY, Iowa – In a matchup between two of the three remaining unbeaten teams in American Rivers Conference women's basketball, it was the 6th-ranked Wartburg Knights that were too much for the Nebraska Wesleyan Prairie Wolves in a 108-68 loss on Saturday in Waverly, Iowa.
 
No. 6 Wartburg double the Prairie Wolves points total in each of the first two quarters to lead by 31 points at halftime and they continued to roll in the second half.  The 108 points allowed by the Prairie Wolves equals the highest NWU has given up over the past ten years.
 
The Knights ended the game shooting 52.1 percent from the field.  Wartburg was 32-55 in the first three quarters for 58.1 percent then reserves played in the fourth quarter with the Knights making only 5-16.
 
While Wartburg was red hot from the floor, the Prairie Wolves were equally as cold in the opening three quarters.  NWU made only 18-53 in the first three quarters then closed the game making 6-9 in the fourth quarter.  The Prairie Wolves shot 38.7 percent from the field and 7-23 from 3-point range.
 
Once again the Prairie Wolves had a big disadvantage in rebounding with Wartburg holding a 49-28 margin on the glass.  The Knights scored 28 second chance points in the game.
 
Caitlin Navratil, the leading scorer in the American Rivers Conference, led the Prairie Wolves in scoring with 25 points.  Navratil shot 8-15 from the floor and led the team with four assists and three steals.  Mikenzie Delgado was the only other player in double figures with 10 points.
 
Wartburg was led by Emma Gerdes with 19 points.
 
The Prairie Wolves now have a long break, not taking the court again until December 30 when they have an exhibition game at Air Force.
