CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – Two players on the Nebraska Wesleyan University men's soccer team were named to the 2019 American Rivers Conference Men's Soccer All-Conference team that was announced on Wednesday (Nov. 6) by the league office.
Luke Monson and
Tyler Sanne were both honorable mention All-Conference selections. Monson was selected as a midfielder and Sanne as midfielder/defender.
Monson (Fr., Lincoln, Neb./Lincoln Southwest.) received All-Conference honors in his first season with the Prairie Wolves. He played in all 18 matches, starting every match in the midfield. Monson had one assist on the year.
Sanne (So., Lincoln, Neb./Lincoln Southwest) appeared in all 18 matches getting the start in 17 of the matches. He scored two goals on the year, including the game-winning goal in the 1-0 win over Westminster College. It is also his first All-Conference recognition.
McDonald (Council Bluffs, Iowa) was honorable mention All-Conference as a midfielder. She played all 18 games scoring three goals with one assist. Two of her three goals were game-winning goals in 2019.
Tigrio Huerta of Loras College was named the American Rivers Conference MVP and Taylor Petkovich of Central College is the Defensive MVP. Central College coach Garry Laidlaw was named the Coach of the Year.
Nebraska Wesleyan finished the 2019 season with a 7-8-3 overall record finishing 1-6-1 in conference play.
