LINCOLN, Neb. -- The Nebraska Wesleyan University football team closes out the 2019 season on Saturday (Nov. 16) when they host the University of Dubuque in American Rivers Conference action. Kickoff between the Prairie Wolves and Spartans is set for 1 pm at Abel Stadium.
NWU looks to bounce back from a disappointing 35-34 loss last Saturday at Luther College to drop the Prairie Wolves to 3-6 overall and 1-6 in league play.
Dubuque is the hottest team in the A-R-C having won five straight games to move to 6-3 overall and 5-2 in the league. The Spartans are trying to finish in the top three of the conference standings.
A total of 14 seniors will be playing their final game at Abel Stadium for Nebraska Wesleyan on Saturday. The group will be honored prior to the game at 12:45.
Saturday's matchup features the top passing team in the conference, Nebraska Wesleyan, against the top pass defense in the league. Quarterback
Jonathan Curti takes his curtain call at Abel Stadium needing one more touchdown pass to break his own single season record of 30 touchdowns. His favorite target,
Derrick Curtis, is also on record watch as he needs just one TD reception to tie the NWU single season record of 13 TD catches in a year. Curtis is trying to become only the third player in NWU history with 1,000 receiving yards in a season. The tandem will face a Spartan secondary that ranks in the top 10 in NCAA III football with 16 pass interceptions this year.
Saturday's game will be broadcast live locally on LNK TV Education channel and streamed online courtesy of the NWU Sports Network. Jeff Motz and John Harris have the call on the TV broadcast this week. In addition, the game can also be heard on KFOR 1240 AM/103.3 FM or online at kfornow.com with NWU Hall of Fame broadcaster Dick Janda serving as the voice of the Prairie Wolves.
Fans attending the football game on Saturday will receive free admission to the Nebraska Wesleyan basketball doubleheader vs. McMurry College that starts at 5 pm in Snyder Arena beginning with the men's contest.
