MEQUON, Wis. – Day one of the NACC-IIAC volleyball challenge got off to a rough start for the Nebraska Wesleyan volleyball team on Friday as the Prairie Wolves were swept in a pair of matches against teams from the NACC.
NWU dropped the first match of the day, 3-0, to the host school Concordia University Wisconsin then fell 3-0 to Aurora University later during the evening.
Against Concordia, the Prairie Wolves fell by scores of 25-12, 25-21, 25-12. NWU was limited to only 22 kills in the match, compared to 47 for Concordia.
The Prairie Wolves had 14 attack errors, six reception errors and five service errors. In all, NWU had a total of 27 errors against Concordia. They finished with a .072 attack percentage.
Kierra Harder had a team-high seven kills in the match.
Kelsie Stovall dished out 20 assists and
Lizzie Saale had 13 digs.
NWU fell behind quickly in the second match against Aurora losing in scores of 25-17, 25-14. The third set was the most competitive before Aurora came away with a 27-25 win. The Prairie Wolves had a total of 30 kills and a .117 attack percentage in the match.
Sidney Mell was the lone NWU player to reach double figures in kills as she had 10 total kills. Stovall once again led the team with 23 assists and Saale had 22 digs.
Nebraska Wesleyan falls to 7-5 overall on the season. They will look to bounce back on Saturday as they face two more teams from the NACC.
