MEQUON, Wis. – Nebraska Wesleyan volleyball's trip to the shores of Lake Michigan in Mequon, Wisconsin was a disappointing one on the court as the Prairie Wolves finished 0-4 at the NACC-IIAC Challenge that took place Sept. 22-23.
After dropping two matches in three sets on Friday, the Prairie Wolves lost two more matches on Saturday. On Saturday morning NWU was swept by Dominican 3-0 to start the day off, then finished the challenge dropping a five-set thriller to Edgewood, 3-2.
Against Dominican, NWU once again was hurt by errors. The Prairie Wolves had only a .076 hitting percentage, committed six reception errors and had four service errors.
The Prairie Wolves lost the three set match in scores of 25-20, 25-14, 25-23.
Kierra Harder led NWU with 12 total kills and was the lone Prairie Wolves player to reach double figures in kills.
Kelsie Stovall dished out 24 assists and
Sidney Mell led the team with 14 digs.
NWU played their best match of the weekend to close the challenge against Edgewood. After dropping the first two sets 25-22, 25-15, the Prairie Wolves rallied back to take the next two sets 25-21, 25-22 forcing a deciding fifth set. Edgewood came away with the 15-12 victory in set five.
In the fifth set, the Prairie Wolves fell behind 7-2 early and were never able to recover. Trailing 14-9, NWU made one last push.
Sidney Mell had a pair of kills and an Edgewood error mad the score 14-12, but Edgewood closed the match with a kill to get the win.
Two Prairie Wolves reached double figures in kills.
Kierra Harder had a team-high 16 kills with five digs.
Sidney Mell posted a double-double with 15 kills and 11 digs.
Kelsie Stovall just missed a double-double of her own with 32 assists and nine digs.
Lizzie Saale had a team-high 23 digs.
