10th Victory for NWU Women in 67-58 Win Over Central

LINCOLN, Neb. – Nebraska Wesleyan earned their 10th win of the year and completed the season sweep of Central College with a 67-58 victory in IIAC women's basketball action on Wednesday night (Feb. 1) at Snyder Arena.
 
Things looked bleak for the Prairie Wolves early as they 13-4 late in the 1st quarter having made just 1-12 from the field to start the game.  NWU held tough and trailed only 13-7 at the end of the first.
 
NWU then outscored the Dutch by three points in the second quarter to trail just 27-24 at the break.
 
The third quarter was controlled by the Prairie Wolves as they shot 60.0 percent from the floor and made a huge run to end the period.  Trailing by three points with three minutes left in the quarter, NWU outscored Central 10-2 the next three minutes and led 48-43.
 
Nebraska Wesleyan maintained the lead during the entire fourth quarter and built it up to 12 points before earning the nine point win.
 
After making only 13.3 percent in the first quarter, the Prairie Wolves ended the game at 40.3 percent from the floor, including 8-23 from 3-point range.  NWU also forced Central into 20 turnovers, scoring 18 off those turnovers.
 
Three players scored in double figures for Nebraska Wesleyan led by Audra Thramer who came off the bench for 15 points.  Thramer sparked NWU with 11 in the first half, then ended with 15 in just 18 minutes.  Thramer was 3-4 from 3-point land.
 
Caitlin Navratil hit her average with 14 points while dishing out seven assists.  Kate Schulte also had 10 points in the game with a team-high seven rebounds.
 
Kendall Brown and Emily Dine both had 12 point to lead Central.
