COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The Nebraska Wesleyan women's basketball team continued their impressive start under new head coach Sam Dixon as the Prairie Wolves rolled to a 71-49 victory over Colorado College on Saturday night (Nov. 25) at the 2017 Rocky Mountain Thanksgiving Classic in Colorado Springs, Colo.

NWU is now 4-0 on the year, their best start since 2010-11.  The Prairie Wolves have outscored their opponents by an average of 31 points in the first four wins and have a turnover margin of an average of +11.8 per game.

The Prairie Wolves led only by two points, 11-9 at the end of the first quarter then made their move in the second quarter.  Towards the end of the second quarter, NWU went on a 10-0 run to get up by 16 points and they would hold a 36-21 advantage at the half.  After both teams shot below 25 percent in the first quarter, NWU heated up in the second quarter making 9-21 from the field to outscore the Tigers 21-9.

Colorado College fell behind by 25 points early in the second half as the Prairie Wolves opened the third quarter on a 12-2 run.  The Tigers did end up outscoring the Prairie Wolves by one point in the third quarter but it wasn't enough.

NWU scored 21 points in the fourth quarter, going 12-15 at the free throw line to put away Colorado College on their home court.

Nebraska Wesleyan finished the game shooting 34.4 percent from the field, better than Colorado College at 33.3. Once again it was the Prairie Wolves defense that came up big forcing the Tigers into 25 turnovers.

Kate Schulte led the NWU offensive attack with 21 points.  Schulte was 7-14 from the floor and a perfect 6-6 at the free throw line.  The other Prairie Wolves player in double figures was Caitlin Navratil with 10 points.  Navratil also dished out a team-high five assists.  Addie Wetzel pulled down 10 rebounds for her third double figure rebounding performance of the year.
