Women Top Century Mark To Improve to 3-0

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The Nebraska Wesleyan women jumped out to 22-0 lead to start the game and easily rolled to their third win of the season with a  102-47 victory over Sul Ross State on Friday afternoon (Nov. 24) at the 2017 Rocky Mountain Thanksgiving Classic in Colorado Springs, Colo.
 
It marks the first time since the 1990-91 season that a NWU women's basketball team has scored over 100 points in a game.

NWU held their opponents scoreless for the first 8:40 of the game until Sul Ross State finally made a 3-pointer.  The score was 25-3 at the end of the 1st quarter then NWU would outscore SRS in every other quarter.
 
The Prairie Wolves had their best shooting performance of the season finishing the game at 47.0 percent.  They outrebounded Sul Ross State by 24 (58-34) and forced them into 25 turnovers.
 
All five NWU starters reached double figures as they topped the century mark for the first time under new head coach Sam Dixon.
 
Caitlin Navratil led NWU for the second straight game scoring 16 points on 5-10 shooting.  Kate Schulte was just behind with 15 points and seven rebounds.  Audra Thramer went 6-10 from the floor to score 12 points in only 14 minutes.
 
Ann Schulte had her first career double-double with 12 points and 10 assists. She added three steals and three rebounds.  The final player in double figures was Addie Wetzel with 10 points and a team-high eight rebounds.
 
Nine other players came off the bench to score points for the Prairie Wolves in the blowout victory.
 
Sul Ross State finished the game shooting only 28.6 percent as a team.  Jessy Stanley led the way with nine points and six rebounds.
 
NWU will try to remain perfect on the season on Saturday when they take on the host school Colorado College.
