Box Score 2 OMAHA, Neb. – The Nebraska Wesleyan women's tennis team closed finished their conference dual season on Saturday with a 7-2 victory over Buena Vista University at the Koch Tennis Center in Omaha. Earlier in the day, the Prairie Wolves fell to Coe College, 8-1.
The win was the second of the season for Nebraska Wesleyan as they move to 2-7 overall and 2-6 in IIAC play finishing 7
th in the league standings, one spot out from qualifying for the postseason tournament that will be played in April.
NWU won all three doubles matches in the dual win over the Beavers. Elie Healy and Bridget McKeeegan won 8-1 at No. 1 doubles,
Victoria Gorman and
Makinzie Vandewege won 8-3 at the No. 2 doubles spot and
Madi Hinshaw and Jordyn Fossel completed the sweep with a 8-3 win at No. 3 doubles.
In singles play, NWU won four of the six matches to clinch the dual win. Healy defeated Lani Brown 6-3, 6-2 at No. 1 singles with McKeegan getting a convincing 6-1, 6-0 win at No. 2 doubles. Hinshaw was a 7-5, 7-5 winner at No. 3 singles and Fossel won 6-1, 6-2 at No. 5 singles for the final win.
Against Coe College, the lone victory for the Prairie Wolves came at No. 3 doubles with Hinshaw and Fossel winning 8-4 over the Kohawks.
The fall season will conclude for Nebraska Wesleyan women's tennis on Oct. 13-14 at the IIAC Individual Tournament in Waterloo, Iowa.
