LINCOLN, Neb. – Loras College came into Snyder Arena and shot themselves to a 68-55 victory over Nebraska Wesleyan in Iowa Conference women's basketball action on Wednesday night (Jan. 18) in Lincoln, Neb.
The Duhawks (10-7, 4-4 IIAC) shot 63.0 percent from the field in the first half, making 8-10 shot attempts in the second period as they jumped out to a 40-30 lead at halftime.
Loras cooled off in the 3
rd quarter, but NWU was unable to make up any ground as both teams scored 11 points in the third quarter.
NWU (8-7, 2-5 IIAC) cut the lead down to eight points to start the 4
th quarter and looked poised to make a second half comeback just like on Saturday. The Prairie Wolves couldn't string together consecutive stops as the Duhawks kept the double digit lead every time that NWU responded.
The Duhawks finished the game with a shooting percentage of 53,7 percent, compared to 42.6 for the Prairie Wolves. Loras also held a 33-27 advantage on the glass, getting 13 second chance points.
Nebraska Wesleyan had only one player score in double figures as freshman
Caitlin Navratil led the way with 17 points. Navratil was 7-11 from the floor, but was limited to only three shot attempts in the second half.
Loras center Lori Obendorf recorded a double-double with 20 points and 10 rebounds.
