POINT LOOKOUT, Mo.  – The Nebraska Wesleyan men's basketball team earned a No. 5 seed for the NAIA Division II Men's Basketball Tournament when the tournament field was announced on Wednesday night (Mar. 2). NWU will face No. 4 seed Warner Pacific (Ore.) at 9:45 pm on Wednesday night, March 9 at Keeter Gymnasium in Point Lookout, Mo.

The 32-team 2016 NAIA Division II Men's Basketball National Championships will get underway on March 9, with the Championship game on Tuesday, March 15. All games are played at Keeter Gym on the campus of College of Ozarks in Point Lookout, Mo.

NWU earned an automatic bid to the NAIA II National Tournament by finishing as the GPAC Tournament runner-up. The Prairie Wolves, who moved up to No. 18 in this week's NAIA II Top 25 poll, are making their first postseason appearance since 2001. This will be the Prairie Wolves first trip to the NAIA Division II Tournament and their 25
th overall postseason appearance. NWU did qualify for six NAIA Tournaments from 1953-61.

Warner Pacific, ranked No. 15 in this week's NAIA II Top 25 poll, earned an at-large bid to the championships. They finished the year 23-9 overall and are making their 10
th appearance at the NAIA II National Tournament. The Knights, a member of the Cascade Collegiate Conference, won nine games in a row before falling to Northwest Christian in the CCC Tournament Championship.

Nebraska Wesleyan also won nine straight games before falling in the GPAC Tournament Championship. The Prairie Wolves are 22-7 overall and have won the most games for a NWU basketball team since the 1997-98 season.

NWU is the leading scoring team in NAIA II at 96.1 points per game, scoring over 100 points 13 times on the year. Warner Pacific is sixth in the nation in scoring at 88.5 points per game and they have scored over 100 points nine times.

The winner of the NWU-Warner Pacific game will face the winner of the No. 1 seed Davenport/No. 8 seed Saint Xavier game. That game would be played on Friday (Mar. 11) at 12:00 pm in the Sweet 16 of the Liston Bracket.
