TeKolste's Career Night Can't Lift NWU Past Broncos

LINCOLN, Neb. -- Felicia TeKolste scored a career-high 32 points but it wasn't enough as 11th-ranked Hastings College defeated Nebraska Wesleyan 71-58 in GPAC women's basketball action on Wednesday night (Feb. 10) at Snyder Arena in Lincoln.

NWU trailed by just one point at halftime, but the Broncos opened the 2nd half on a 12-0 run to go up by double digits and the Prairie Wolves could not recover.

Hastings College led 14-5 after the end of the 1st quarter, as NWU made only one field goal in the 1st quarter.  The Prairie Wolves committed more turnovers than shot attempts in the 1st quarter.

The 2nd quarter was a different story as NWU scored 21 points to outscore the Broncos by eight points and trail by just a point at halftime.

In the 3rd quarter, the NWU offense fell back into their ways of early in the game by committing turnovers and not scoring on their end of the floor.  The Prairie Wolves did not score in the 2nd half until almost five minutes had gone by, as Hastings got up by 13 points.

TeKolste tried to bring NWU back in the 4th quarter as she scored 14 points in the final period, but the margin was too large.

With her big night, TeKolste moved into 4th on the NWU all-time career scoring chart.  She scored over half of the team's points going 12-19 from the field and 4-5 from 3-point range to finish with 32.

Courtney Cook added eight points and nine rebounds for the Prairie Wolves.

Hastings, which shot just 41.3 percent from the floor, did convert nine 3-pointers.  Rachel Jelden led the way with 17 points and eight rebounds.
