Women Pour it on MacMurray in 90-47 Victory

JACKSONVILLE, Ill. – The Nebraska Wesleyan women's basketball team scored a season-high 90 points as they went back above .500 with a 90-47 road victory over MacMurray College on Monday afternoon (Dec. 19) in Jacksonville, Ill.
 
For the Prairie Wolves, the 90 points were the most scored in a single game since December 30, 2011.  It is also the largest margin of victory for the NWU women since that same game when the Prairie Wolves won 91-16 over Cal Tech.
 
NWU improves to 5-4 on the season and the five victories are already the most wins for a NWU women's team since the 2011-12 season.
 
The Prairie Wolves came out of the gate quick scoring 25 points in the first quarter of the game to lead 25-17 after ten minutes.  They continued to pour it on in the second half outscoring the Highlanders 23-7 to lead 48-24 and double up the score at halftime.
 
In the second half it was more of the same for NWU as they scored 24 points in the third quarter, then closed the game with 18 in the final period.
 
NWU had by far their best offensive performance on the season shooting 54.3 percent from the floor for the game.  They were 6-12 from 3-point range in the first half and ended the game 9-20 from long range.
 
Caitlin Navratil had a huge game to lead the Prairie Wolves.  Navratil was 9-11 from the field, making 2-2 from 3-point range to score a game-high 22 points.  She also pulled down five rebounds, dished out three assists and had three steals.
 
Navratil was one of three Prairie Wolves to reach double figures in scoring.  Addie Wetzel scored 12 points with five rebounds and three steals, while Morgan Nishida had 11 points and six assists.
 
MacMurray, now at 1-10 on the year, shot only 32.8 percent from the field.  The biggest different in the game were the 31 Highlander turnovers as the Prairie Wolves scored 41 points off those turnovers.
 
Nebraska Wesleyan is right back in action on Tuesday as they travel to Mt. Pleasant, Iowa to face Iowa Wesleyan University.
