Women Lead Entire Way in 68-61 Win

TACOMA, Wash. – Nebraska Wesleyan led the entire game as the Prairie Wolves women's basketball team earned their first win of the season with a 68-61 victory over Pacific Lutheran on the second day of the MacArthur Classic in Tacoma, Wash.
 
NWU led by 10 points at halftime and then held of PLU in the second half despite being outscored in both quarters of the second half.
 
Nebraska Wesleyan held PLU to just 31.7 shooting from the field.  Pacific Lutheran made only seven field goals inside the 3-point land as they were 12-24 from beyond the arc and 7-36 on 2-point attempts.
 
The Prairie Wolves shot only 38.3 percent from the field and 4-18 from 3-point range, but they were 18-23 at the free throw line.
 
Addie Wetzel and Klaire Phillips both recorded double-doubles in the game to top the Prairie Wolves.  Wetzel scored 17 points with 13 rebounds, making 5-9 from the field and 6-6 at the free throw line.  Phillips had a team-high 18 points with 10 rebounds.  Philips also made six steals with four assists.
 
Pacific Lutheran was topped by Samantha Kelleigh who made 8-14 from 3-point range to score 26 points.
