Second Straight Victory for NWU Women's Basketball

OMAHA, Neb. – The Nebraska Wesleyan women's basketball team improved to 2-1 on the season as they went on the road and defeated Grave University 62-39 on Tuesday night (Nov. 22) in non-conference action.
 
NWU held the Royals to just 13 first half points and built up a 15-point halftime advantage.  They then sealed the win by outscoring Grace by seven points in the fourth quarter to secure the second win of the year.
 
Neither team had a good night shooting the basketball as the Prairie Wolves were just 27.3 percent from the floor with Grace a touch better at 30.6 percent.  A big difference was the turnover ratio where the Prairie Wolves forced the Royals into 30 total turnovers, while committing only 14.
 
The Prairie Wolves were also dominant on the glass pulling down 55 rebounds, compared to 43 for Grace as NWU scored 15 second chance points.
 
Grace pulled within 11 points at 46-35 with 6:30 left to play as the game was still in question.  From there, NWU went on a 16-4 run to close out the game and secure the win.
 
Addie Wetzel posted her second straight double-double with 15 points and 18 rebounds.  Wetzel made 3-7 from 3-point range as the rest of the team was 5-24 from beyond the arc.  One other player reached double figures in scoring as Kate Schulte scored 12 points, making 6-13 at the free throw line.
 
Kayla Bloodworth was the top player for Grace with 11 points and 18 rebounds.
 
NWU is back in action on Saturday as they travel to Cornell College.
