DUBUQUE, Iowa – The Nebraska Wesleyan volleyball team completed its successful weekend by sweeping the city of Dubuque as they defeated Loras College, 3-0, on Saturday afternoon. The win comes one day after the Prairie Wolves took down the University of Dubuque.
Nebraska Wesleyan posted the straight set victory in scores of 25-12, 25-21, 25-20. With the victory, the Prairie Wolves improve to 11-7 overall and 4-2 in IIAC action. The win keeps the Prairie Wolves in the top half of the league standings and one more conference win would secure a spot in the IIAC Postseason Tournament.
It was a dominant performance at the net for Nebraska Wesleyan as they recorded 10 total team blocks and held Loras to a .088 hitting percentage. NWU pounded out 37 total kills with several different players contributing in the win.
Hannah Bellinghausen had seven kills to lead the team, while adding four block assists.
Malory Dahl,
Callie Meyer and
Kierra Harder each had six kills.
Carly Bostock led the Prairie Wolves with two solo blocks and five block assists. Bostock added five kills on eight attempts for a .625 swing percentage.
Taylor Crandall dished out 30 assists to go along with six digs and a service ace.
Kennedy Hegert recorded a team-high 16 digs.
Sid Mell was a weapon serving notching five total aces in the victory.
The Duhawks fall to 9-11 overall and 1-5 in IIAC play. Loras was led by Therese Schultz with seven kills.
Nebraska Wesleyan steps out of Iowa Conference action next weekend with a trip to Wisconsin for a four-match tournament.
