Box Score 4 Platteville, Wis. – The Nebraska Wesleyan volleyball team went 1-3 at the UW-Platteville Invitational that was held Oct. 15-16 in Platteville, Wis.
NWU went 1-1 on the opening day getting a three-set sweep over Northland to begin the tournament. They lost 3-0 to Augustana (Ill.) in the second match of the night on Friday. Saturday was very disappointing for the Prairie Wolves as they fell 3-1 to the host school UW-Platteville, then were swept by Carthage College to close out the day.
It was an easy victory for the Prairie Wolves in the opening match of the tournament as they cruised to the 3-0 win over Northland in scores of 25-14, 25-13, 25-14. NWU hit .301 as a team with 40 total kills, compared to .048 for Northland with only nine kills.
Nebraska Wesleyan was led by IIAC Player of the Week
Callie Meyer who had 10 total kills.
Malory Dahl had nine kills with zero assists for a .450 swing percentage.
Taylor Crandall dished out 35 assists, with
Kennedy Hegert adding 26 digs.
NWU did not have a good offensive performance in the three set loss to Augustana. The Vikings won in scores of 25-20, 25-12, 25-22 to improve to 18-5. NWU hit only .089 in the match as Dahl led the way with eight kills.
On Saturday, NWU dropped the first two sets to the host school UW-Plattville 28-26, 25-21 before winning the third set 25-23. UWP sealed the win in the fourth set with a 26-24 victory as they moved to 9-17 overall. Dahl led the way with 17 kills, while
Kierra Harder had 14 kills.
The Prairie Wolves weren't able to bounce back in the final match of the tournament as Carthage rolled to a 25-20, 25-15, 25-18 victory to make the Prairie Wolves 12-10 overall. Harder led the way with five kills. The Prairie Wolves had 19 kills and 19 errors for a .000 hitting percentage. They also had six service errors and nine reception errors in the very disappointing performance.
NWU will now regroup and return home and to IIAC action on Oct. 23 when they host Coe College.
