St. Charles, Mo. – Competing in the first ever MIAA-sanctioned bowling event, the Nebraska Wesleyan women's bowling team defeated two conference opponents and finished seventh out of nine teams at the Lindenwood Lion Classic that was held Oct. 29-30.

The Prairie Wolves went 2-1 against MIAA competition during the two-day event, defeating Lincoln University in a pair of baker game matches. NWU finished 2-7 overall in the pool play baker rounds to earn the No. 7 seed in the championship bracket.

NWU lost to Lindenwood University 2-0 in the first round of the bracket play, then were eliminated by Culver-Stockton 2-0 in the double elimination championship baker round.

Jade Mendoza had the top scoring average for the Prairie Wolves on day one as she averaged 116.0 in three rounds. Her score of 152 in round two was the game-high for NWU.Â
Larissa Huffman was just behind with an average of 115.67 in three rounds.

In the two baker victories, NWU defeated Lincoln 289-252 in the first matchup, then later defeated the Blutigers 259-257. Also competing against the Prairie Wolves in baker games were Central Missouri, Newman, Ball State, Missouri Baptist, Culver-Stockton, Baker and Lindenwood.

The next competition for the NWU women's bowlers is set for Nov. 11-13 at the Warhawk Invitational in Whitewater, Wisconsin.
