MIAA Releases Inaugural Bowling Poll

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – The Nebraska Wesleyan University women's bowling team was picked seventh out of seven teams in the first-ever MIAA Bowling Preseason Coaches Poll, which was unveiled on Thursday (Oct. 13).
 
The Prairie Wolves received eight points in the poll to finish seventh. McKendree was the unanimous favorite, receiving six first-place votes and 36 total points.  Central Missouri, which collected 31 points to be chosen second, received the other first-place vote. Elmhurst (25 points), Maryville (20), Drury (15) and Lincoln (12) rounded out the poll.
 
2016-17 marks the first season that the MIAA will sponsor women's bowling.  NWU was one of five teams that joined the league as associate members, with Lincoln and Central Missouri already full-time members of the conference.
 
The Nebraska Wesleyan women's bowling team is in its first season in 2016-17.  NWU has six players on their initial roster under head coach Mike Gay.
 
NWU got their season started last weekend (Oct. 8-9) at the Mid-States Classic in Wichita, Kansas.  The Prairie Wolves finished 15th overall in the total pin format.
 
This Saturday, NWU will have their first competition in Lincoln as they participate in the Sandhills Collegiate Tournament at Sun Valley Lanes on Oct. 15-16.  NWU begins play at 12:30 on Saturday.
