LINCOLN, Neb. -- Morningside College proved why they are the No. 1 team in the country as the Mustangs shot past Nebraska Wesleyan 87-41 in GPAC women's basketball action on Saturday afternoon (Jan. 16) at Snyder Arena.
Morningside made 15 3-pointers in the game, while NWU was just 1-22 from long range.Â
NWU, which has now lost 12 straight games, finished the game shooting only 26.2 percent from the field and 4.5 percent from beyond the arc.
The Prairie Wolves trailed just 18-10 at the end of the first quarter, but Morningside outscored NWU 22-8 in the second quarter to build up a 22-point halftime lead. They continued to cruise in the second half, making 9-22 from 3-point range as they outscored NWU by 22 again in the second half.
One bright spot for NWU was freshman
Addie Wetzel who provided a spark off the bench. Wetzel recorded a double-double with 12 points and 14 rebounds to lead the Prairie Wolves.Â
Felicia TeKolste added 10 points and six rebounds.
Two players scored in double figures for the Mustangs, led by Madison Braun with 16 points.
