LINCOLN, Neb. --
Felicia TeKolste scored a game-high 27 points but it wasn't enough as Doane College held of Nebraska Wesleyan 68-59 in GPAC women's basketball action on Wednesday night (Jan. 13) at Snyder Arena.
The Prairie Wolves got 22 first half points from TeKolste and built up a 38-32 lead.
Doane scored eight straight points to open the second half and took a 40-38 lead. The Tigers maintained that lead throughout the third period and led 50-48 heading into the fourth.
The Tigers jumped out to a seven point lead in the fourth quarter with 4:01 to play, but NWU did not quit.Â
Felicia TeKolste made an old-fashioned 3-point play to cute the lead to 61-57. On the next possession,
Kaley Stokey scored after a steal to pull NWU within two points.
Doane answered with a 3-pointer and did not allow NWU to score the rest of the way.
TeKolste finished with 27 points, shooting 10-17 from the field and 5-5 at the free throw line. She was the lone NWU player in double figures as they shot 40.7 percent as a team.
Heather Broman led Doane with 24 points.
