Game Recap: Women's Volleyball |

Prairie Wolves Fall to 24th Ranked Tigers

CRETE, Neb. -- The Nebraska Wesleyan volleyball team hit the road on Wednesday looking for their first conference win of the season but 24th ranked Doane College had other plans as the Tigers defeated the Prairie Wolves 3-0 in GPAC volleyball at the Haddix Center in Crete.

Doane, ranked No. 24 in this week's NAIA poll, won in scores of 25-18, 25-20, 25-18.  The Tigers improve to 11-6 overall and 2-2 in GPAC play, while the Prairie Wolves fall to 4-7 and 0-3 in the league.  NWU is one of just two teams in the conference without a GPAC victory.

Nebraska Wesleyan had trouble with the Tigers blocking at the net in set one, much like the previous match against Hastings.  NWU had a negative hitting percentage for the set as Doane had four total blocks.  The Praiire Wolves also had five service aces in the first set.

NWU improved their hitting as the match progressed and finished with 26 total kills hitting .135 for the match.  Doane pounded out 35 kills in the three sets and hit .299 as a team.

The Prairie Wolves experimented with several different rotations throughout the match as Coach Rayna Cain continues to try to find the right combination.  A total of 15 different players saw time on the court for NWU.

Malory Dahl had another solid match for the Prairie Wolves with a team-high nine kills and a .304 hitting percentage.  Freshman Kierra Harder was second with six kills.

Playing in her first GPAC match, Kylie Sestak had a team-high 13 assists.  Kennedy Hegert led the way with 15 digs.

Doane was led by Kaitlin Bradley with 10 kills and two blocks.

It won't get any easier for the Prairie Wolves this weekend as they are in the middle of a stretch of facing four straight nationally-ranked opponents.  Friday the Prairie Wolves host #4 Midland before they travel to face #14 Dordt on Saturday.
