SIOUX CITY, Iowa -- Nebraska Wesleyan rallied back from a three-run deficit to earn a 6-3 win in game two of a GPAC baseball doubleheader at Morningside College on Friday night (April 17) at Lewis & Clark Park in Sioux City. The victory gave the Prairie Wolves a split as the Mustangs won game one, 12-3.
Morningside jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the 2nd inning of the nightcap and looked like they would get the sweep. However the comeback started in the 4th inning for NWU.Â
Mark Korsakas singled to lead off the inning and a fielding error on a ball hit by
Sam Ayars allowed
Will Reimer to score.
Still trailing 3-1 heading into the 6th inning, the Prairie Wolves got their offense going. Korsakas once again singled to begin the inning.Â
Matt Orozco later singled followed up by an RBI double from
Joe Babic. Ayars drove in a run with a ground out then
Connor Bool singled to bring in Babic with the go-ahead run. NWU would never trail again.
The Prairie Wolves added two insurance runs in the 7th inning as
Chase Powers and
Matt Orozco each had RBI singles.
Matt Schommer came in to pitch the final three innings of relief to record his first save as he didn't allow any runs.Â

Morningside added another run in the 5th and two more in the 6th inning.
NWU did pose a threat in the 6th inning. Korsakas hit an apparent home run over the left field wall, but was ruled out as he missed 1st base. The Prairie Wolves did get back-to-back doubles from
