LINCOLN, Neb. -- 22nd-ranked Briar Cliff used a pressure defense to force Nebraska Wesleyan into 26 total turnovers as the Chargers came into Snyder Arena and defeated the Prairie Wolves 74-63 in GPAC women's basketball action on Saturday.
NWU (2-19, 0-16) held right with the Chargers for most of the first half and led 16-15 with 8:30 to play before the break. From there, BCU went on a 8-0 run and finished the half with a 33-23 lead.
Nebraska Wesleyan shot 42.1 percent in the first half, but BCU was on fire hitting 54.2 from the field. The Prairie Wolves were able to keep it close by knocking in 4-8 from long distance.
Briar Cliff went on a 11-0 run in the second half as the Prairie Wolves were held without a point for a stretch of over four minutes allowing the Chargers to get up by 20 points. NWU made a late run in the final minutes to close withing 12 in the final minute and 11 for the final score.
NWU was 10-27 from 3-point range and 43.4 percent from the floor.Â
Felicia TeKolste led the way with 19 points and five assists.Â
Alli Kalal was 4-13 from 3-point range for 12 points, while
Amanda Diaz was 3-4 from long distance for 11 points.
Briar Cliff shot 54.9 percent for the game and held a +18 advantage on the glass. Three players scored in double figures led by Jessi Corrick with 14 points.
