LINCOLN, Neb. -- The Nebraska Wesleyan women's tennis team split a pair of home matches on Saturday at Knight Fieldhouse on the NWU campus. The Prairie Wolves opened the day with a 6-3 loss to William Jewell College then bounced back with a 6-3 win over Baker University.
Against William Jewell it looked good for the Prairie Wolves early as they took two out of the three doubles matches.
Natalie Cech and
Katherine Ternent were 8-2 winners at No. 1 doubles with
Gaby Chaparro and
Jennifer Heywood winning at No. 2 doubles.
Singles action wasn't as successful for NWU as just one Prairie Wolves player came out on top. At No. 2 singles, Ternent was a 4-6, 6-3, 10-1 winner over Sabrine Navarro to post the only singles win. The No. 1 singles match between Chaparro and Savannah Drew was very competitive with Drew coming out on top 6-4, 1-6, 10-5.
The Prairie Wolves got their second victory of the season improving to 2-5 overall with the 6-3 win over Baker. NWU once again won two of three in doubles play with Cech/Ternent winning No. 1 and Chaparro/Heywood winning No. 2 doubles.
