LINCOLN, Neb. -- Dakota Wesleyan outscored Nebraska Wesleyan by 20 points in the second half as the Tigers handed the Prairie Wolves their first conference loss of the season in a 79-51 contest on Saturday afternoon (Nov. 21) in GPAC women's basketball action at Snyder Arena.
NWU trailed by just eight points at halftime, 36-28, but shot only 30 percent in the second half as the Tigers pulled away.
Dakota Wesleyan got hot from the outside as they made nine 3-pointers, hitting 5-10 in the first half. NWU was ice cold from deep in the second half as they made only 2-12 from beyond the arc.
NWU cut the lead to 36-30 to open the third quarter, but the Tigers went on a 13-2 run over the next six minutes to build up a 15-point lead. The Tigers continued to add to the lead in the fourth quarter. The third quarter was also slowed when NWU freshman
Klaire Phillips suffered an injury and was carted off in the ambulance with an apparent head injury.
The Tigers finished the game shooting 58.8 percent from the field, making 60.7 percent in the second half. NWU shot only 33.9 percent and 30.0 in the second half.
Four different players scored nine points to pace the Prairie Wolves scoring.Â
Courtney Cook had nine points and five rebounds,
Felicia TeKolste had nine points on just 4-15 shooting but had a team-high six rebounds.Â
Alli Kalal made three 3-pointers and
Addie Wetzel came off the bench for nine points.
TeKolste did join the 1,000 point club in the second half, becoming the 13th player in NWU history to score 1,000 career points.
Erica Herrold led DWU with 21 points.
