SAN ANTONIO, Texas - Nebraska Wesleyan completed the non-conference portion of their schedule on Saturday by splitting matches at the Trinity Invitational in San Antonio. NWU lost to Texas Lutheran, 3-1, in the morning then bounced back with a 3-1 victory over Schreiner.
NWU posted a 6-6 record against NCAA III competition for the 2015 season and went 2-2 at the Trinity Invitational.
In the morning match, Texas Lutheran came out swinging and pounded out 17 kills in the opening set for a 25-12 victory. NWU bounced back to win the second set 25-19 to tie the match. TLU took the next two sets, 25-14 and 25-20 to complete the victory.
Malory Dahl had a big match to lead the Prairie Wolves as she pounded 14 kills in the victory.
Mackenzie Allen chipped in nine kills.
Kelsey Bahe dished out 30 assists and
Kennedy Hegert registered 27 digs.
Looking to finish the Texas trip on a strong note, Nebraska Wesleyan pounced all over Schreiner 25-10 to begin the match. NWU dropped the second set 25-18, but that was all they would lose as the Prairie Wolves got 25-16, 25-15 wins to complete the victory.
Sid Mell and
Malory Dahl each had 12 kills to lead the way for NWU.
Callie Meyer also reached double figures with 10 kills. Bahe dished out 40 assists and Hegert had 18 digs.
NWU is now 6-11 overall on the season and returns to GPAC play this week.
