LINCOLN, Neb. -- Nebraska Wesleyan volleyball posted their second straight Great Plains Athletic Conference victory on Wednesday night as they defeated College of Saint Mary 3-1. The Prairie Wolves won in scores of 25-23, 25-27, 25-20, 25-20.
It marks the first home win of the season for NWU and evens the season series with the Flames. The Prairie Wolves now sit at 8-18 overall and 2-12 in GPAC play. CSM falls to 11-15, 2-12 GPAC.
In the opening set the score was tied at 23-23 after a NWU timeout. The Prairie Wolves got kills by
Kierra Harder and
Sid Mell to seal the victory.
Set two was back and forth as the Flames had three straight set points before finally sealing the victory on a ball handling error.
Nebraska Wesleyan fell behind 9-11 in the third set, but went on a roll to get up 17-13 and they never looked back en route to a 25-20 win. The fourth set was controlled by the Prairie Wolves from the start getting up by six points early and they cruised the rest of the way.
On the stat sheet, neither team had a very impressive night. NWU finished the match with 11 service errors and eight ball handling errors. CSM hit only .087 as a team with 30 attack errors.
Freshman
Kierra Harder had an impressive line with 17 kills and only two attack errors for a hitting percentage of .326.
Malory Dahl also reached double figures in kills with 14.
The Prairie Wolves had 111 total team digs, led by
Kennedy Hegert with 29.
