NWU Drops Two GPAC Road Matches

SEWARD, Neb. -- The Nebraska Wesleyan volleyball team suffered a pair of road conference losses over the weekend at Morningside College on Friday night and at Concordia University Saturday night.

NWU remains without a victory in GPAC play as they fall to 0-8 in conference play and 6-14 overall.

Against Morningide, another GPAC opponent looking for their first league win, the Mustangs won 3-1 in scores of 26-24, 13-25, 25-16, 25-14.  Set one was very competitive with the two teams trading leads.  With the set tied at 23-23, Morningside got a kill to set up set point.  NWU responded with a kill by Kelsey Bahe to tie it at 24-24.  Unfortunately, an NWU service error and ball handling error gave the Mustangs the set.

NWU responded in the second set and dominated the entire way.  The Prairie Wolves led 8-6 then outscored the Mustangs 12-2 to go up 20-8.  They then cruised to the 25-13 win.  NWU had 16 kills and just two errors in the second set.

That solid hitting performance didn't last long and cost the Prairie Wolves the match.  In each of the next two sets, NWU had a negative hitting percentage to allow Morningside to gain the 25-16, 25-14 wins.

Malory Dahl and Kierra Harder each had 11 kills to lead the Prairie Wolves.  Kelsey Bahe had 31 assists and Kennedy Hegert led the way with 27 digs.  Harder added 11 digs to complete her double-double.

On Saturday night, the Prairie Wolves faced another nationally-ranked opponent as they traveled to Seward to battle #17 Concordia University.  The Bulldogs came away with a 3-0 sweep in scores of 25-21, 25-17, 25-22.

Dahl led the Prairie Wolves with nine kills and just two errors.  Sid Mell contributed eight kills.  Bahe dished out 12 assists and Hegert had 15 digs as team leaders in those categories.

Concordia improved to 19-5 overall and 7-2 in GPAC play.  Claire White led the Bulldogs with nine kills.
