HASTINGS, Neb. -- Hot-shooting Nebraska Wesleyan built up a 20-point first half lead and extended their winning streak to three games as they went on the road and defeated Hastings College 109-96 in GPAC men's basketball action.
NWU shot 56.1 percent in the first half to lead by as many as 20 points, but the Broncos battled back to trail by just seven points at the half 56-49. Hastings continued to chop away at the lead and closed to as close as five points in the second half, but NWU continued to hit big shots to maintain the advantage.
For the Prairie Wolves, they improve to 5-8 overall and now 2-6 in GPAC play while Hastings drops their eighth straight game to fall to 6-13, 3-6 in GPAC.
The Broncos actually outshot the Prairie Wolves by nearly ten percent in the first half as they scorched the nets to a tune of 66.7 percent in the first half. They did have 14 first half turnovers as they could not manage the Prairie Wolves full court pressure.
Junior
Keithan Karn had a career night to lead six players in double figures. Karn scored 25 points for his fourth straight game in double figures as he hit 4-7 from 3-point range.Â
Trey Bardsley also topped the 20-point mark as he scored 23 points.
Nick Stine had four 3-pointers to score 15 points,
Travis Giesselmann recovered from a first half injury to score 12 in the second half and 14 total points.Â
Blake Ruiz had a career-high 13 points, while
Byron Thompson added 12. Thompson also had seven assists.
Hastings shot 53.6 percent for the game and was led by Tobin Reinwald with 24 points. The Broncos were hampered by 21 total turnovers.
NWU will look to extend their winning streak to four games as they host Dordt College on Saturday afternoon.
