LINCOLN, Neb. -- Midland University went on a 11-3 run to end the first half and built up a double digit lead and never Nebraska Wesleyan back into the game as the Warriors defeated the Prairie Wolves 75-54 in GPAC women's basketball action Wednesday night (Jan. 28) at Snyder Arena.
NWU remains winless in conference play at 0-13, 2-16 overall while Midland has won two straight GPAC games to improve to 9-14, 4-10 GPAC.
The two teams were close for most of the first half and an old-fashioned 3-point play by
Courtney Cook cut the Midland lead down to 23-21 with 4:33 remaining in the half. NWU managed just one field goal the rest of the half as Midland got out to a 34-24 halftime lead.
NWU got within nine points to start the half and as close as eight on a basket by
Felicia TeKolste with 17:05 remaining. The Warriors then outscored the Prairie Wolves 20-5 to go up by 23 points and lock the game in place.
Midland shot 52.0 percent as a team for the game, making 8-17 from 3-point range. Jaylan Spencer came off the bench to score 16 points, while Jamilah Johnson scored 15.
For Nebraska Wesleyan, the Prairie Wolves finished with 18 turnovers and hit 42.6 percent from the floor.
Courtney Cook scored a game-high 20 points with seven rebounds to lead all scorers.Â
Felicia TeKolste chipped in 15 points.
