LINCOLN, Neb. -- Northwestern College used a fast paced offensive output to run up and down the court past Nebraska Wesleyan for a 86-51 victory in GPAC women's basketball action on Saturday afternoon (Jan. 24) at Snyder Arena.
The Red Raiders have now defeated the Prairie Wolves 20 straight times dating back to the 1999-2000 season before the GPAC had formed.
Northwestern shot a blistering 59.4 percent from the floor in the half getting the majority of the baskets in the paint on fast break shots. On the other end, NWU shot just 38.5 percent in the first half going 10-26 from the floor.
NWU was unable to get any closer in the second half as Northwestern scored 43 points in both halves and held the Prairie Wolves to only 25 in the second half. The Prairie Wolves were even colder from the field in the final 20 minutes as they shot 25.8 percent, finishing the game at 31.6 percent.
The guard trio of Karen Ettleman, Morgan VanDerSloot and Paige O'Neal combined for 49 points. O'Neal also finished with eight assists in the game.
For the Prairie Wolves, it was the inside tandem of
Bridget Bucher and
Courtney Cook that led the way. Bucher had 17 points and six rebounds, while Cook scored 16 points.
