Box Score LINCOLN, NEB. -- Nebraska Wesleyan dropped the first set to GPAC opponent Concordia, but then took the final three sets as the 22nd-ranked Prairie Wolves rallied back to beat the Bulldogs, 3-1, in volleyball action on Tuesday night (Sept. 30) at Snyder Arena.
NWU won in scores of 20-25, 25-23, 25-17, 29-27 to snap their three-match losing streak and improve to 11-3, 3-3 GPAC while Concordia fell to 12-6, 4-3 GPAC.
The Bulldogs hit .367 in the first set and looked to be the more dominant team in the match.
Set two was back and forth and remained tied 20-20 late in the set. An ace by
Alyssa Stanek and kill by
Heather Muller put the Prairie Wolves up 22-20 and they never trailed again.
Katelyn Walsh put the match away with a kill for the 25-23 win.
In set three, the Prairie Wolves scored six unanswered points to pull ahead 21-15 after a block by
Bridget Bucher and
Alexa Rosenau. Concordia had one kill, but the Prairie Wolves got kills on four of the next five possessions to earn the 25-17 victory.
The fourth set was the most competitive as the teams were locked up at 25-25 with each team having a set point. A Bulldog error finally gave NWU the advantage at 28-27 and Stanek put an exclamation point as she pounded home a kill for the win.
Stanek finished with 15 kills and seven total blocks to score 21 points for the Prairie Wolves. Walsh had a team-high 16 kills, with
Malory Dahl adding nine.
Paige Getz led Concordia with 15 kills.
