Central Scores in OT For 1-0 Win

LINCOLN, Neb. -- Central College scored a goal less than a minute into the second overtime period as the Dutch defeated Nebraska Wesleyan University, 1-0 in men's soccer action on Tuesday (Sept. 16) at Abel Stadium in Lincoln.

Neither team was able to put a goal on the board in the first 100 minutes of action, but in the second overtime, Salvador Villanueva sent a cross in front of the net as Dennis Forrest did the rest putting the ball in the goal for the game-winner.

The Prairie Wolves defense had played well during regulation and the overtime period with Andy Larson recording six big saves in the match.  On offense, NWU could not get on the attack as they had seven total shots, with only four shots on goal.  The Dutch finished with 12 total shots and seven on goal.

Nebraska Wesleyan had their three-match winning streak snapped as they drop to 3-3 overall, while Central improves to 2-4.

NWU will open Great Plains Athletic Conference play this weekend when they travel to Mitchell, S.D., to face Dakota Wesleyan University on Saturday.
