The Gardner Foundation Strength Complex Completed

LINCOLN, Neb. – Nebraska Wesleyan University Athletics has taken a huge step to improve its strength and conditioning program by remodeling the weight room and adding equipment to The Gardner Foundation Strength Complex.

Completion of the project was possible due to a $99,964 grant from the Gardner Foundation of Wakefield, Nebraska.

The new equipment will allow NWU to keep up with the latest findings and practice in the evolving area of strength and conditioning.  Three types of equipment will allow NWU athletes to do "functional training" designed around specific integrated movements needed on the field or court within a particular sport.  The new double-sided power racks will provide 12 stations for Prairie Wolves athletes to perform the lifts which are staples for every sport.

A refurbished Circuit room will appeal especially to health-conscious students, and promote NWU's overall goals for student well-being.  The circuit room will offer a variety of updated strength equipment along with new flooring and an attractive environment to promote fitness and personal success.

"This functional training equipment now allows our teams to do sport specific movements and workout programs," NWU strength & conditioning coach Derek Frese said.  "In the ever changing landscape of strength & conditioning, these improvements allow us to maximize more efficient use of our existing space."

The Gardner Foundation Strength Complex is a Legend Fitness Showcase weight room, not only giving NWU a top-notch facility to show its recruits with pride, but the custom made equipment showcases the Nebraska Wesleyan brand with colors and logos.
